BASEBALL, CLEMSON, and CONGRESS!

Meet Your U.S. House Candidate - South Carolina Congressional District 3

Many of my friends tell me that I am an average-everyday, well-rounded, red-blooded middle-class American patriot (Baseball and Apple Pie)! Well, I certainly hope and pray that to be true!

I have been blessed with life experiences that are wide and varied.

For example, I grew up in a lower middle-class family that was dirt poor and struggled to make ends meet. By the grace of God I got into Brown University and played college baseball. In 1982 I was selected to Division I First Team All New England, given All-American Baseball Division I consideration, and was heavily scouted by professional baseball teams. I led the nation in triples in 1982 and was Top 10 in stolen bases!

As it turned out, I signed a professional baseball contract and played in the Montreal Expos minor league system. While it was a short stint on the baseball front because of injuries, it was there I made a decision to accept Christ as my Savior that will last for all of eternity.

An interesting footnote is that former long-time Clemson Baseball Head Coach, Jack Leggett, heavily recruited me out of high school. He was my "phone buddy" during much of my senior year of high school.

However, I decided to go to Brown University for my undergraduate work and later on received my MBA from Clemson University. I can most assuredly tell you that my MBA experience at Clemson dramatically changed my life.

It helped broaden and challenge my thinking, gave me a great deal of confidence that I never had before, and opened doors to things that I never thought possible. Here is what I mean by that…………

During my Clemson MBA tenure and shortly thereafter, I started a Christian Leadership Foundation; wrote my first book (The Christian Leader’s Worldview); and ran for the United States Senate against Lindsey Graham.

Subsequent to that political experience, I ran for the U.S. House in District 4, wrote 5 more books, retired from the corporate world with executive level experiences, started a small business, and had a host of other life-altering positions that have given me both the credentials and background to now run for the high office of Congress in South Carolina District 3.
